We offer official NWF training to become Habitat Stewards with NWF

The Charlotte Wildlife Stewards partner with other environmental organizations to host educational training through the National Wildlife Federation. This 24 hour training process results in the creation of "Habitat Stewards" who will work within their communities to promote wildlife conservation.
We just completed another National Wildlife Federation Habitat Steward Training class!
The North Carolina Wildlife Federation, in collaboration with two local chapters; Charlotte Wildlife Stewards (Charlotte) and HAWK (Matthews), completed a National Wildlife Federation Habitat Stewards Training course in March 2022. This was a great opportunity for individuals interested in learning how to create certified wildlife habitats, the value and benefits of native plants, native NC wildlife, nature training, understanding the major elements of a healthy ecosystem , and important conservation initiatives.
Habitat Steward Training took place at Matthews Community Center, located in downtown Matthews. Habitat Steward Training included 24-hours of class time, expert regional speakers, and related materials. Class size was 30 individuals from all over North Carolina. Volunteer commitment of 30 hours post-course is required for certification.
NCWF members were eligible for a special discounted registration rate. Non-members were asked to register at the general registration rate, but NC Wildlife Federation was pleased to extend a complimentary year of NCWF membership to those registrants.
